Key Priorities and Targets
for Regenerative Growth

This 2024, we remain laser-focused on our four Key Priorities to secure EDC’s long-term future, as we continue to elevate our pentad stakeholders set the foundations for a regenerative future:

Finally, we aim to grow our HSE culture among our employees, contractors, and other partners moving forward into 2024. While we have made significant progress in lowering the total severity and incident rates across the Company, we seek to adopt a far better approach.

Our development, innovation, and adherence to our HSE guidelines form a core component of our operations. We are shifting towards metrics that measure our capacity to work safely and demonstrate focus on a regenerative HSE culture. Our targets include:

  • On-time Completion of Corrective Actions for High Potential Incidents Completion of Top 10 HSE Risk Mitigation Projects
  • Completion of Top 10 HSE Risk Mitigation Projects

We strive to create an environment that empowers our employees to take the initiative in reporting potential safety concerns and continuously gives them the opportunities, tools, and training to identify and act upon these concerns.

Moving forward, we will adopt a strict risk mitigation and management mindset, working closely with all of our employees, contractors, and partners to ensure the best possible operating conditions for all our sites. Our action plans for this renewed commitment to HSE are currently in progress, underscoring the crucial importance that EDC places on safety.

We have decided to merge our financial and generation targets for 2024, as our budget is now more closely tied to our well operations. As the vast majority of our expenses will be dedicated to our DOP, we allotted a more conservative budget to ensure we still have adequate resources for well care and plant operations.

Our drilling operations program will be at the forefront of our activities as we embark on a three-year campaign to grow our geothermal portfolio. We have already acquired the rigs needed for drilling operations (in cooperation with Thermaprime) and have set a goal of having 22-25 wells drilled by the end of 2024.

We will also continue with the regular maintenance and monitoring of our wells, ensuring that our best- performing wells continue to operate at maximum efficiency. At the same time, we have deployed technologies that will support our underperforming wells, ensuring that they continue to provide a steady supply of power.

Aside from our DOP in 2024, we also have seven ongoing growth projects that will greatly support our ongoing push for geothermal energy solutions. These projects include: 5.6 MW Integrated Project, 20 MW Tanawon, 28 MW Mahanagdong, 10 MW Tongonan Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), 20 MWh BacMan BESS, and 20 MWh Negros BESS.

EDC Value Chain

EDC is the top 100% renewable energy company in the Philippines, focused on being a sustainable, low-carbon business that provides reliable, clean, and affordable energy. Our portfolio includes geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar sources.

We have been generating geothermal power in the Philippines for over 40 years, enabling us to deliver on our Geo 24/7 commitment. Our activities range from exploration to maintenance of geothermal steam fields and power plants, wind, solar, and hydroelectric power plants.

We align our operations with our vision of a regenerative future for the Philippines, implementing strategies to reduce our carbon footprint, care for the environment, and create value for society.

Value Creation Process

EDC’s value creation framework showcases how the company generates value by transforming its six capitals— Financial, Manufactured, Intellectual, Human, Natural, and Social—into outputs through various business activities. We are committed to proactively managing the impacts of these transformations on the environment, society, and stakeholders.

Business Model

EDC’s efforts aim to improve the country’s energy sector by harnessing the full potential of clean, natural resources. Our geothermal energy portfolio is our main asset, in addition to our wind power farm —the largest in the Philippines and combined with our solar power farm—and the FG Hydropower plant in Nueva Ecija.

EDC has remained a trusted industry expert in generating power from geothermal resources for over four decades, providing a stable source of baseload renewable energy known as Geo 24/7.

As the country’s leading renewable energy company, we prioritize consistently enhancing our services while providing customers with the best experience possible by reducing outages and increasing power generation from purely renewable energy sources. EDC’s Agile approach also enables independent decision-making and immediate action, with multidisciplinary teams working together to provide innovative solutions that best serve the customers. All these align with EDC’s culture driven by Continuous Improvement, which inspires innovation and growth.

Given the urgency of the climate crisis, we are taking all necessary measures to provide reliable, stable, and clean power to customers even during natural disasters and the pandemic. We implement business continuity measures to ensure resilience and adapt to changes and disruptions. Our facilities are typhoon-proofed and have remained climate-resilient, building on the lessons learned after the damage caused to our facilities by Super Typhoon Yolanda

(international name Haiyan) in 2013. As a result of our typhoon proofing efforts, our facilities have experienced few to no incidents with their operations even during the heaviest typhoon seasons in the last five years.
